As expected, it has been a bumpy and drama-filled start to the new season for Tottenham.

From Tottenham outclassing Manchester United at Old Trafford to letting a 2-0 lead slip and losing at Brighton.

If anything summed up the club, then it has been these past few weeks, with several players coming under fire after the weekend’s capitulation.

But whilst Cristian Romero gets verbally battered for his performances and the Tottenham fullbacks also come into question, there have been a lot of positives.

One of the most difficult games Spurs fans have had to deal with this season is losing yet another north London derby on home soil.

Like many of their games, Postecoglou’s side had a lot of the ball, but their final third play was well under-par on that day, on top of Arsenal defending for their lives.

One man who came under serious fire was Brennan Johnson, with the winger still in the phase of trying to win over disgruntled fans.

Johnson proceeded to deactivate his social media account and it has since done the 23-year-old the world of good because he can’t stop scoring.

Amid all the noise of how Tottenham were beaten at Brighton, they need to remember that Johnson scored for the sixth game running in all competitions.

Glenn Hoddle admitted that he has been ‘brilliant’ and he feels that Johnson has ‘turned them around’ and won over his fans, as he told Premier League Productions (07/10/24 at 5:10 pm).

Brennan Johnson has won over Tottenham fans

"He has been brilliant," said Hoddle. "He has shown a lot of character because he was getting a bit of stick from the crowd and it wasn't going his way.

"But he has turned them around now."

Tottenham’s reaction against West Ham

These types of matches always have high emotion and their meeting after the international break won’t be any different.

West Ham have had a pretty poor start to the new season, but they won their first game of the campaign against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

If the Hammers and new boss Julen Lopetegui turn up to Tottenham and take three points, then it won’t go down well with the locals.

But this is also the perfect game for Spurs to provide a reaction, get three points and prove that their performance against Brighton was a minor blip.
