Julen Lopetegui hasn't had the best of starts to life at West Ham.

West Ham did beat Ipswich at the weekend to relieve some of the pressure on the Spaniard, but Lopetegui's position has been under pressure already.

The Hammers haven't gone as far as to identify possible replacements as of yet, but the club were said to be concerned by Lopetegui's start before the Ipswich game.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has made an interesting claim about Brentford boss, Thomas Frank.

Wright was discussing Frank's managerial ambitions alongside Shay Given, and while Given noted that it was strange that Frank hadn't been linked with West Ham, Wright claimed that the Danish boss was too big to take such a job.

Thomas Frank is bigger than West Ham

Wright and Given spoke about Frank and the idea of a move to West Ham.

"That comes from the manager. Professional, a role model, the thing about Thomas Frank is that it's remarkable with all these jobs going, he never seems to be linked," Shay Given said.

"West Ham for example, the most recent job that has gone in the summer, he wasn't close to getting it."

"He's bigger than West Ham for me at the minute," Wright said.

Thomas Frank has been linked to bigger jobs than West Ham

While West Ham fans won't agree, Wright's comments here do have credence.

Indeed, Frank has been linked with bigger clubs than West Ham quite consistently over the past 12 months.

Manchester United are said to be admirers of Frank, while the Brentford boss was also linked with Tottenham before Ange Postecoglou arrived.

Frank may soon be ready to make that next step in management, but when the time comes, he'll surely head to a more established top side than West Ham.

The Hammers do have a strong level of managerial pull, after all, they've just hired a former Real Madrid manager, but it would be hard to blame Frank if he was aiming slightly higher at the moment.

After a solid stint at Brentford, Frank could well be poached by a top club the next time a vacancy comes up.

With Erik ten Hag under pressure at Manchester United, don’t be surprised if the Red Devils revisit Frank as a managerial target.
