'He's not that kind of player': Ian Wright says Liverpool have a player who's nothing like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Mohamed Salah isn't getting his way at Liverpool right now.
Salah is performing brilliantly on the pitch, but, for some reason, Liverpool still won't offer him a new contract.
Liverpool only want to give Salah a two-year deal, but the player himself wants a three-year extension.
Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright and Darren Lewis have been discussing this conundrum.
Lewis noted that due to Salah's age and the fact this is likely to be his final big contract, Liverpool may be reticent to give such a lengthy deal. After all, we've seen players in such a position before quickly decline.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did just that at Arsenal after signing his final contract with the Gunners.
However, Wright doesn't believe that Salah will follow Aubameyang's example, claiming that he's not the type of player who would drop off after getting a big new deal.

Ian Wright says Mohamed Salah isn't like Aubameyang
Wright and Lewis spoke about Salah's contract situation.
Wright says that Salah will not drop off in the same way Aubameyang did, hailing the striker's work ethic.
"He wants three years, they want to give him two, and you can understand why. There's a long history of players in the Premier League signing big contracts over 30 and you give them big money and suddenly they drop off. You know that with Aubemeyang at Arsenal," Lewis said.
"But the thing is, we're talking about Mo Salah. Salah doesn't miss games, he's not that kind of player. Look at him, the way he keeps himself, the way he is as a man, he's not someone who will sign a new contract and clock off. If there's anyone over 30 who I'm going to give a three-year deal to, it's going to be him," Wright said.

Wright says that Salah won't do what Aubameyang did, and while that may be true, the reality is that you can never truly tell.
Aubameyang was one of the best strikers in the Premier League prior to signing his final contract with Arsenal, and nobody expected him to drop off.

Of course, the two players have vastly different approaches to football.
Aubemayeng had an attitude problem at Arsenal, which, ultimately led to his release from the club.
Meanwhile, Salah is the hardest worker at Liverpool, and, as we saw at the weekend, he's still in peak physical condition.
Liverpool are reticent to offer such a lengthy contract to a player in his 30s, and while that is usually a wise stance, perhaps they should make an exception to their own rule for Salah.
