'He's perfect': Tim Sherwood says Arsenal could win the league if they sign £60m player

Arsenal face Newcastle this weekend, and there are a few interesting sub-plots heading into this game.
This was one of the fixtures of the season last year as there were fireworks aplenty amid some refereeing controversies and an on-pitch scuffle between Declan Rice and Bruno Guimaraes.
Meanwhile, over the summer, Arsenal looked at signing a few of Newcastle's players.
Bruno Guimaraes was a concrete target for Arsenal, while the Gunners also looked at Martin Dubravka at one point when they were scrambling for a goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Newcastle looked at signing Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal, while Kieran Tierney was a target for the Magpies.
Arsenal also have an interest in Alexander Isak, and according to Tim Sherwood, speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, Isak is a player Arsenal should be trying to sign.
Arsenal should sign Alexander Isak
Sherwood named Isak as the player Arsenal should sign.
The pundit claimed that the £60m man is perfect for Arsenal, stating that he may see this weekend as something of a rehearsal to impress Mikel Arteta.
"Do you know what worries me about you playing Newcastle? Someone might be rehearsing in front of Mikel, Isak. He's perfect for you," Sherwood said.
"He can play down the left, he can go down the middle, he's an absolute perfect Arsenal player. He might be saying 'if you're looking, I'm here'. Not that he wants to leave Newcastle, but I would suggest he is an upgrade if you want to challenge for the title."
Is Isak better than Kai Havertz?
There's been a lot of chat about Arsenal needing a new striker as of late, but these sorts of conversations do feel a tad disrespectful to Kai Havertz.
Havertz has earned a lot of praise for his performances in recent months, and there's a real argument to make that he's a better option than Isak at this moment in time.
Kai Havertz since the start of 2024 | Alexander Isak since the start of 2024 | |
Games | 24 | 23 |
Goals | 12 | 15 |
Assists | 7 | 3 |
Havertz's output this year has been just as impressive as Isak's, and he clearly suits Mikel Arteta's system at this moment in time.
That said, if there's one thing you can't have enough of in football, it's quality goalscoring options, and if Arsenal can find the money to do a deal for a player like Isak, they should look to make it happen.
Isak would cost an absolute fortune, but, as ever in football, you have to pay big money to land the best players.
Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of Isak, so perhaps this is a situation to keep a close eye on.
