Manchester United’s performance on Sunday was so bad that one fan called talkSPORT from Old Trafford – while at the game.

A horrid performance by Erik ten Hag’s men saw them get handed a 3-0 pasting by Tottenham, and the visitors had plenty of other opportunities to increase their lead.

Many of those in attendance at Old Trafford left some time before the final whistle was blown.

Man United fan Alan wasn’t one of those, although he admitted it was the rainy conditions that prevented him from going outside the ground.

But while the game was going on he called talkSPORT to speak of the hurt he’s currently experiencing following his beloved Man United.

“I’m still here, yeah, just about. Only because it’s raining while I’m staying in,” an emotional Alan said.

“This is getting worse, this club. It’s heartbreaking.

“There’s no light at the end of the tunnel. If you see the players, they don’t even want to play for him.

“The manager is not good enough for the club. He might be a nice man, he’s nowhere near good enough for this club.

“We need to get Ruud van Nistelrooy there. We’ve got that many Dutch connections here now. It’s got to be somebody Dutch. We have to get Ruud in.

“This manager’s nowhere near good enough for this club.”

“When I was nine, I slept in Manchester to see the FA Cup because I couldn’t afford to go to Wembley. United’s in my blood,” Alan continued.

“This is just heartbreaking. Me and my wife say now, it’s just getting worse and worse.

“The club, the atmosphere and everything is disgusting. Honest to God, it’s just draining. You can see players. Nobody’s there.

“We’ve not got a captain. We’ve not got a manager. We’ve got no passion in the club. We’ve got young players.

“We’re ruining their careers time and time again. It’s heartbreaking. Young Marcus Rashford there, just to see a manager ignoring after…

“Honest to God, it’s heartbreaking. The ground’s nearly empty here.

“It’s just heartbreaking. We’re only sat in here now because we don’t want to get rained on.

“It’s like time and time again. It’s just… since Sir Alex Ferguson left, it’s been going on, but it’s getting worse.

“All we’ve got is people going, oh, the stadium’s going to be nice when it’s done.

“Now, it’s just heartbreaking.”

Man United immediately found themselves on the ropes when Brennan Johnson put Spurs in front on three minutes following an inspired run by Micky van de Ven.

Johnson turned provider with the second goal as Dejan Kulusevski hooked his deflected cross past Andre Onana before a poacher’s finish by Dominic Solanke made it 3-0.

And Alan believes the writing is on the wall for Ten Hag.

“He can’t even talk to his own players,” Alan said. “The manager’s not good enough and he’s not strong enough for this club. We need somebody with passion. We’ve got none.

“I could do a better job than him. All he’s doing is… All his staff have got laptops, computers showing them players. Smash them up and show a bit of passion.

“That’s all we want. We want passion win or lose. We’ve got none of it.”
