Tottenham Hotspur suffered their second defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal defeated Ange Postecoglou’s men 1-0 in the North London derby, with Gabriel heading home the winner from a corner kick.

Once again, Tottenham dominated possession for most of the encounter but lacked a cutting edge in front of goal, which has been a common theme so far this term.

With that said, Paul Merson shares what he thinks would happen if Erling Haaland played for Tottenham.

Paul Merson says even Erling Haaland would struggle to get 20 goals for Tottenham right now

Merson, speaking on Sky Sports, admitted that Tottenham would do really well to get top four this season.

“If they get top four, brilliant,” the 56-year-old.

“Honestly, that would be amazing, 100% that would be amazing. They will need Solanke to get 20 odd goals.”

Merson continued and noted that even Haaland wouldn’t get 20 goals with the current service: “You can only get 20 odd goals if the crossing improves. If the crossing doesn't improve, you can put Haaland up there, and he won't get 20."

Solanke is yet to get off the mark for Spurs since his £65m arrival from Bournemouth.

Ange Postecoglou admits Tottenham must improve in front of goal

Postecoglou, via Football London, noted that he’ll work on improving his side’s composure in front of goal.

“We’ve just got to keep working at it mate, that’s my job,” the Spurs boss said.

“I’ve just got to keep giving the feedback to the guys, trying to guide them in the right way to make them see that for all their dominance in the game, you need to really be clear-headed in those kind of moments and, that’s my role to try to guide them in the right way.”
