Tottenham Hotspur are in FA Cup third-round action away at Tamworth on Sunday as they have a potentially very tricky encounter on their hands.

Spurs have what it takes to hammer anyone on their day, but they’ve not done so well against teams that sit back and defend before striking through set-pieces.

This is what is likely to await Tottenham at Tamworth, who even boast a Rory Delap-style long-throw specialist in Tom Tonks.

Troy Deeney recently warned Tottenham that Tamworth away would be very difficult for the visitors on a "horrible" pitch.

Chris Sutton has also had his say on what could await Spurs as he predicted the result of the match on BBC Sport.

Chris Sutton backs Tottenham to beat Tamworth 3-1 but reckons Spurs defenders will struggle

Sutton believes Ange Postecoglou “knows what it coming his way” as Tottenham’s threadbare back line is set to be tested by Tamworth.

However, Sutton also reckons Spurs will have enough to record a 3-1 win at the Lamb Ground.

“I was at Tamworth to see them beat Huddersfield in round one and Tommy Tonks’ long throw got them the winner that night,” wrote Sutton.

“Tonks launches it from anywhere inside the opposition half, and it is such a great weapon.

“So, poor old Ange Postecoglou knows what is coming his way too. His Spurs defenders are going to get the same treatment, and we are going to find out whether Spurs can cope.

“It is a basic thing, a long throw, but I am not convinced Spurs have the players to deal with it.

“Their centre-half pairing for part of their defeat to Newcastle was Djed Spence and Archie Gray, so its not as if they have got people like Tony Adams and Steve Bould, who would relish that kind of test.

“I actually think Tamworth will score. When they beat Huddersfield they were well organised, and they beat them well.

“The other thing Tottenham will have to deal with is a terrible pitch, so this tie is far from straightforward, but I also believe that, unlike Huddersfield, Spurs will create enough opportunities to win it.”

Tottenham team news v Tamworth

Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are sidelined for Tottenham.

However, Mikey Moore is back from illness, while Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison are back after missing the Liverpool cup game through suspension.

Postecoglou could potentially make a few changes to the Tottenham starting XI, as predicted by TBR Football.
