Questions are being asked about Tottenham Hotspur after their slow start to the season.

Spurs have picked up just four points from their first four games this season, and it's fair to say that things aren't clicking for Ange Postecoglou's side at the moment.

Postecoglou wanted his team to be challenging at the top of the table this season, but after a slow start, Spurs are closer to the relegation places than they are the title.

Dominic Solanke arrived as Spurs' marquee signing this summer, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Ian Wright has been discussing the striker's start to life at Spurs.

Solanke is yet to score his first Tottenham goal, and he looks like a player who is under a lot of pressure right now.

Solanke was criticised for his performance against Arsenal at the weekend.

Wright says that he can't understand how Tottenham are using Solanke, claiming that he should be allowed to focus on the wider elements of his game rather than being looked at purely as a goalscorer.

Ian Wright baffled by Dominic Solanke's Tottenham role

Wright spoke about Solanke and his role at Spurs.

"What I think with Dominic Solanke is that he's done the work. He left Chelsea, went to Liverpool, went to Bournemouth, he's not scored copious amounts of goals, but we've seen what he's capable of," Wright said.

"He should be in that phase in his mind where he's thinking 'right I'm going to go there.' Because his link up play and hold-up play and running channels is very good.

"He could give Spurs a different option, they can play up to him and go long, he can give them options other people can't and I can't understand why they're not making him focus on that so that when the chances come he's more relaxed about it rather than feeling at the moment he's in there predominantly to score goals."

Dominic Solanke will get there

Wright is spot on with his concerns here, but it's still very early days for Solanke at Spurs.

The former Bournemouth man has only played two games for Tottenham so far, and one of those matches has been against the best defensive team in England.

Solanke does look like he's feeling the pressure at the moment and focusing solely on goals, but once he gets into a rhythm, the performances will follow.

Solanke showed last season that he has what it takes to be a top-level Premier League striker, and he'll surely eventually begin to repay that £65m transfer fee to Tottenham.
