'I didn't realise': David Seaman stunned by how big one Arsenal player is after seeing him in training

Arsenal have one of the most talented squads in the Premier League, but they also have one of the most physically imposing.
Arsenal are often at their best when they have a real steel about their team. The Invincibles won the league with a spine built off the back of the likes of Patrick Vieira, Gilberto Silva, Sol Campbell and Kolo Toure.
However, in the post-Invincibles era, Arsenal became a tad softer, particularly in the midfield as more diminutive technical players were preferred such as Cesc Fabregas, Jack Wilshere, Samir Nasri and Santi Cazorla.
Arsenal have now returned to playing with a bit more brute strength in their squad, and speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing just how big this Arsenal team is.
Seaman says that Arsenal are a big side, pointing out that Kai Havertz is a serious unit.
Seaman also noted that Declan Rice is a seriously big player, claiming that he was shocked by Rice's size when he saw him at the Arsenal training ground.
David Seaman shocked by Declan Rice's size
Seaman spoke about Rice, claiming that he didn't realise just how tall the England international was.
Seaman says that Rice and Havertz are basically the same size as himself, noting that Arsenal are a very tall team.
"He's six foot four (Havertz), he is, I've seen him at the training ground and he's my size, along with Declan, I didn't realise how tall Declan was, but they're a big team now Arsenal, they're a big team," Seaman said.
Arsenal’s set-piece record
Arsenal have one of the biggest teams in the Premier League, and that's why they are so dominant from set pieces
Most set-piece goals since 2023/2024/ | Goals from set plays |
1. Arsenal | 24 |
2. Everton | 23 |
3. Manchester City | 19 |
4. Aston Villa | 18 |
5. Liverpool | 17 |
Arsenal are by far and away the best team in the Premier League when it comes to attacking set-pieces, and that's because they have a seriously strong team.
Seaman says that Rice is a big unit, and the scary thing is that he isn't even one of the players who usually attacks set-pieces as he's often taking the dead balls.
Even the smaller players in the Arsenal squad are incredibly strong.
Lucas Leiva recently commented on how strong Raheem Sterling is, while Rob Holding has previously praised Bukayo Saka's strength.
Arsene Wenger was often accused of building something of a soft team that tried to play football too perfectly, but Mikel Arteta has taken Arsenal back to the days of not being afraid of simply out-battling and out-fighting their opponents.
