There's just less than two weeks to go in the January transfer window, and Arsenal haven't got out of the starting blocks yet.

Indeed, Arsenal are yet to make their first signing of the transfer window, but it hasn't been for a lack of trying.

Arsenal have courted a number of targets this month, Dusan Vlahovic is an Arsenal target, while Jonathan David could be an option for Arsenal too.

Arsenal have looked at Viktor Gyokeres recently as well, but, interestingly, that doesn't sound like a deal that is on track to be completed.

According to David Ornstein, speaking on Sky Sports, Arsenal aren't prioritising a move for Gyokeres right now, while the player himself isn't prioritising a move to Arsenal either.

Manchester United are keen on Gyokeres too, and it sounds as though he may not be Arsenal-bound anytime soon.

Viktor Gyokeres not prioritising Arsenal move

Ornstein shared what he knows about Gyokeres and Arsenal.

The journalist says that Arsenal aren't prioritising Gyokeres in their search for a striker, while the player himself isn't overly sold on a move to Arsenal.

"The Sesko one I do think is an option for the summer. After that you look towards different profiles like Gyokeres and players of that ilk, but I don't think that is one that Arsenal have been prioritising for the style, and I don't think Viktor Gyokeres is prioritising Arsenal either," Ornstein said.

Viktor Gyokeres compared to other Arsenal targets

Arsenal aren't prioritising a move for Gyokeres this month, but when you look at the stats, that is baffling.

Indeed, the Swedish striker has been on fire this season, and he's outperforming most of the other players Arsenal are looking at.

Of course, there's always a risk attached to signing players from the Portuguese League.

Indeed, there have been some notable flops signed from Portugal over the years.

Premier League record signings from Portuguese LeagueFee
Enzo Fernandez£107m
Darwin Nunez£85m
Ruben Dias£65m
Bruno Fernandes£53m
Luis Diaz£49m
Matheus Nunes£45m
Eliaquim Mangala£42m
Pedro Porro£39m
Fabio Silva£35m
Ederson£35m

Of course, the likes of Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes have been massive hits, but Enzo Fernandez and Darwin Nunez do appear to be overpriced, while Fabio Silva and Eliaquin Mangala were outright flops.

Arsenal aren't all that keen on Gyokeres, and that may be down to the fact they don't see much value in signing players from the Portuguese league.
