Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host London rivals West Ham United.

Ange Postecoglou's Spurs will lock horns against Julen Lopetegui's Hammers in Saturday's 12:30pm kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both Tottenham and West Ham have shown glimpses of quality this season, but they'll be eager to kick on after mixed starts to the campaign.

Spurs have dominated in many of their games, but defensive errors and a lack of consistency in taking their chances has often cost them, and they’re currently ninth in the standings.

Meanwhile, the Hammers currently sit 12th in the table and have just two wins to their name in the league this term, though their last result was a resounding 4-1 win over Ipswich.

Chris Sutton has now given his thoughts on the fixture and how he sees Tottenham and West Ham faring in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Chris Sutton backs Tottenham for routine win over West Ham

Sutton, writing on BBC Sport, has backed Tottenham to run out 3-1 winners over West Ham as he expects the Lilywhites to bounce back from their shock loss at Brighton last time out.

“West Ham got the win they needed against Ipswich before the international break, but it was a very different story for Tottenham against Brighton,” wrote Sutton.

“It is typical, really, because everyone had been singing Ange Postecoglou's praises following Spurs' win at Manchester United the previous week, talking about how he had built a team with an identity…

“But then they fell apart in the second half against the Seagulls.

“I don't think Spurs' defeat was down to his style of football, though. It was because of shocking defending, and the way they lost duels all over the pitch.

“I am expecting them to bounce back here, helped by the fact that Son Heung-min is in contention after a few weeks out.

“I've been saying it for a while now, but Tottenham are going to give someone an absolute hiding sooner or later.

“I don't think it will happen against the Hammers, but I do think they will win this one easily enough.”

Tottenham v West Ham team news

Ange Postecoglou has received a double boost on the injury front ahead of the West Ham game.

Captain Son Heung-min and fellow forward Richarlison are available once again following their respective injuries.

Summer signing Wilson Odobert is also nearing a return, but this weekend’s game comes too soon for him.

West Ham remain without striker Niclas Fullkrug, who is still recovering from an injury in his calf and Achilles area.

The summer signing suffered the injury while featuring for Germany on international duty in September.
