It wouldn't be a January transfer window without a flurry of activity from Chelsea.
Indeed, the Blues are always one of the most active teams in the January window, but, so far this month, they have kept their powder dry.
Chelsea have been linked with plenty of signings in this window though.
Kobbie Mainoo is a Chelsea target, while Dusan Vlahovic has been looked at too.
Speaking on the London is Blue Podcast, Matt Law has been assessing what Chelsea could do in the final weeks of the window, and he's claimed that Chelsea could well look at doing something in the midfield.
Chelsea have been light in the middle of the park as of late, and they could look to add another body in that area.
Chelsea could look at another midfielder
Law shared what he knows about Chelsea's transfer plans.
The journalist says that the Blues could be in the market for another midfielder before deadline day.
"So they are a little bit light in midfield. But I have some news that you may be pleased to hear. I do think they will assess that midfield situation before the transfer window with that injury in mind, and also with the fact of if Veiga goes, if Casadei goes, not quite sure on Dewsbury-Hall at the moment, it could force them to either do something or re-assess whether they bring a loan back,' Law said.
"I think they’ll look at it late in the window and take a few late, but they are aware that if the Lavia injury is a few weeks, and if Casadei and Veiga who can fill in in midfield in a certain type of match, let’s say, were to go, then they could be left a little bit short."
Andrey Santos stats this season
Law says that Chelsea could look to sign a new midfielder towards the end of the transfer window, but he also notes that the could bring back one of their loanees.
As ever, Chelsea have a number of players out on loan, and they've already recalled Trevoh Chalobah this month, so that is an avenue that the west London club may well explore.
Chelsea have at least one exciting midfield loanee they could look to recall at the moment – Andrey Santos.
Indeed, Santos looks to be an exciting talent and he's doing very well at Strasbourg at the moment.

Santos is developing well at Strasbourg, so Chelsea may be tempted to keep him in France and not disrupt his momentum, but, it is a case of needs must in the January transfer window and if Enzo Maresca feels Santos can add something to his squad, don't be shocked if he's recalled.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on.
