'I know': Rio Ferdinand says Man United have a player who's actually a better creator than Martin Odegaard

For years, Bruno Fernandes and Martin Odegaard have been pitted against each other.

Fernandes stood out against Arsenal as he put in an inspired performance in Manchester United’s 5-3 victory on penalties in the Third Round of the FA Cup.

On the other hand, Odegaard was booed against Manchester United by the home support at the Emirates Stadium for turning back on the ball when the hosts were on the break.

Fernandes was tipped to thrive under Amorim and based on his recent form, he has the edge over the Norwegian skipper.

However, Ruben Amorim acknowledged Odegaard’s brilliance, who has been one of the best midfielders in the league for a number of seasons now.

Rio Ferdinand has chimed in on both players’ strengths and weaknesses.

Bruno Fernandes has made 43 more appearances than the former Real Madrid playmaker and is four years older than him.

Martin Odegaard, however has played in a better environment at Arsenal in comparison to the Portuguese match-winner at Manchester United.

On Rio Ferdinand: Presents, the retired legend claimed that Odegaard makes his side tick better but Fernandes is a better creator and goalscorer.

“If I was playing behind them and the way I was and I’m not blowing my own trumpet here but the way I would be with them, I wouldn’t accept Bruno [Fernandes] being frivolous with the ball and just playing mad, outlandish balls.”

“I’ll be on him all the time. And if I was exerting pressure and my team and my dressing room’s pressure on players, I probably would want Bruno in my team because I know he’s going to get me a goal or an assist or he’s going to create something more often than [Martin] Odegaard.”

“Odegaard makes Arsenal tick better, Bruno creates the openings and goals and assists and chances and unlocks better. If you combine the both, you’ve got the man.”

Odegaard’s importance to Arsenal knows no bounds, as was exemplified in the Premier League as his side failed to win three games in a row in their captain’s presence.

But Fernandes is Manchester United’s main man and skipper as well.

It will be interesting to see how both sets of fans react to Rio Ferdinand’s analysis.

As far as the statistics go, Fernandes has outdone Odegaard this campaign.

However, the 26-year-old has started seven lesser games than the Manchester United hero in the league.
