With 17 points from seven games, Arsenal have endured a strong start to the new season and look set to compete on all fronts.

Liverpool lead the way at the top of the Premier League standings with 18 points, but the Gunners have faced a tougher run of fixtures and have done well to remain unbeaten so far.

Despite Martin Odegaard’s injury absence since the previous international break, Mikel Arteta’s side have continued winning games as most of their other big hitters have stepped up and delivered the goods.

Bukayo Saka was Arsenal’s star man against Southampton in the comeback 3-1 win as he notched up a goal and two assists, but Richard Keys believes it is another Gunners attacker who has proved everyone wrong.

Kai Havertz has been in sublime form this season and recently scored in his seventh successive game at the Emirates Stadium.

The German international, who signed for the club last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £65m, endured a tough start to life at his new club.

However, he came into his own and delivered a string of memorable displays in the title run-in as he finished the season with 13 Premier League goals to his name.

Havertz’s rich vein of form has continued this season and Keys believes he is a guaranteed starter for Arsenal.

“Kai Havertz scored for the seventh consecutive home game v Saints,” wrote Keys in his weekly column.

“A year ago we were all scratching our heads wondering why Arsenal had paid £65m for him.

“I'm sure I'd have had something to say, but fair play to Mikel Arteta. Havertz is now undroppable.”

Havertz has notched up six goals and an assist across ten appearances in all competitions this season and is the focal point of the Arsenal attack.

The German’s versatility allows him to play in multiple positions, but Arteta is likely to use him as a centre forward amid his rich vein of form in front of goal.

There were calls from the Gunners faithful to buy a bonafide goalscorer this summer, but with Havertz in such fine form, Arsenal are in good hands this season as they aim to win the Premier League title.
