Liverpool are top of the Premier League right now, but there's still a feeling that the Reds aren't favourites for the title.

Indeed, a lot of the title discussion this season has been around Arsenal and Manchester City, with Arne Slot's side something of an afterthought.

However, after a strong start to the season, Liverpool are very much in the mix to win the title.

Speaking on the Wrighty's House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Liverpool's title chances, and he says that the Reds would be favourites to win the league if one player was in form.

Indeed, Wright believes that if Darwin Nunez found his scoring touch, Liverpool would easily be favourites to win the league.

Ian Wright makes Liverpool title claim

The pundit spoke about the £70m man and his lack of form.

"Can you imagine, can you imagine if Nunez could score consistently?" Wright said.

"That's a lot of money to play for a squad player. I see Jota as the main man, he's an impact player and that's a lot of money for an impact player

"I've seen enough of him now. I thought at some stage it would click for him, but it's not clicked in for him. If it clicked in for him then Liverpool are definitely easily favourites, easily one of the favourites. Liverpool with a firing Darwin Nunez, I'm telling you, it's a massive problem."

Liverpool believe Darwin Nunez can improve

Wright says that Liverpool will be favourites to win the league if Nunez improves, and, luckily, the view within Anfield is that the Uruguayan will eventually find form.

Indeed, according to David Lynch, Liverpool believe Arne Slot can help Nunez improve.

"It's certainly my understanding that the consensus is that there's more to come under Nunez," Lynch said.

"Yes he's been frustrating, but they believe under Arne Slot that slight improvements can be made under his game to make him the really dangerous forward they thought they were getting."

Of course, it hasn't quite worked out that way for Nunez at Anfield just yet as he's remained wasteful this season, but it's still early days for the Slot era.

Let's not forget, Arne Slot completely transformed Santiago Gimenez at Feyenoord, so he does have a good track record of getting strikers playing their best football.

Don't be surprised if Slot does manage to get the best out of Nunez at Anfield in the coming months.
