Cristiano Ronaldo’s partner was ‘so relieved’ when he secured a move away from Manchester United.

Georgina Rodriguez, 30, has been with Ronaldo for eight years and first met when the Portuguese superstar played for Real Madrid.

Ronaldo later moved to Juventus in 2018 before he returned to Manchester United in 2021 after 12 years away.

Unfortunately for Ronaldo, his second stint with the Red Devils proved to be an ill-fated one.

He had his contract terminated days after he made explosive accusations about United manager Erik ten Hag and the club’s management in an interview with Piers Morgan.

Although Ronaldo had hoped to join a competitive European team, a salary offer of £156million from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr proved too much to turn down.

It now turns out Rodriguez was equally keen to exit Manchester.

In the new season of her Netflix show, ‘I Am Georgina’, the 30-year-old opened up on her delight after she learned Ronaldo was on the move once more.

“When Cris told me he was going to play for Al-Nassr, I was so relieved because I really wanted to leave Manchester,” Rodriguez said.

She added: “I knew something big was waiting for us and we were highly motivated. I was very happy to come to Saudi Arabia.”

Despite Ronaldo receiving the biggest contract of his career, Rodriguez conceded moving their family to a new country and culture was not easy.

“It all happened so quickly,” Rodriguez said.

“At the beginning, I had some ups and downs because we had never lived in a hotel for so long. There were days when I didn’t want anyone to see me, but overall, I was very excited.”

The hotel Rodriguez referenced was the Four Seasons hotel in Riyadh, where Ronaldo and his family stayed in the plush Kingdom Suite.

Ronaldo’s suite was just one of 17 rooms inside the venue occupied by his entourage, which consisted of his friends, other family members and security detail.

The Portuguese superstar and his family have since moved in to a house, but not before he paid a hotel bill estimated to be over £250,000.

Since his move to Al-Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 63 goals in 70 appearances across all competitions.

He is off to a brilliant start in this year’s Saudi Pro League, bagging three goals in four games.

Ronaldo also remains a constant presence for Portugal and celebrated his 900th goal for club and country when he scored against Croatia during the September international break.
