Liverpool face Chelsea on Sunday in what could be a defining game for both sides.

Liverpool are yet to face a true European contender this season in the Premier League, while Chelsea haven't managed to claim a big scalp as of yet under Enzo Maresca.

Both sides have points to prove under their new managers, and both teams are in brilliant form at the moment.

Liverpool are flying right now with Ryan Gravenberch starring in the midfield, while Cole Palmer has been unreal for Chelsea this season.

These games are always difficult to predict, but, as ever, speaking on The Overlap, Gary Neville has stuck his neck on the line and given a prediction for this game.

Gary Neville predicts Liverpool vs Chelsea

Neville shared his verdict on how this game will go.

The pundit stated that he thinks Liverpool will win here as Chelsea are a young side that could be over-awed by the Anfield atmosphere.

Neville reckons the Liverpool fanbase will be bang up for this one, and he's tipped a 3-1 Liverpool victory.

"Liverpool vs Chelsea we will start with that. I think Liverpool will beat them, I think Chelsea are a bit younger, 3-2, 3-1? We'll go with Liverpool 3-1. I think it will be a big atmosphere that day," Neville said.

Liverpool could make title statement

If Liverpool do beat Chelsea in convincing fashion on Sunday, that could be a big statement in terms of the title race.

A lot of the title chat recently has been centred around Manchester City and Arsenal, but the Reds are right there in the race.

Liverpool currently sit top of the league for a reason, and that's because they have been brilliant.

Luis Diaz has been on fire this term, while Mohamed Salah has been characteristically brilliant as well.

Chelsea pose a huge challenge to Liverpool this weekend, but a victory here would show the rest of the Premier League that Arne Slot's side truly mean business.

Neville clearly thinks Liverpool have what it takes to win here, but whether or not they can produce the goods on Sunday remains to be seen.
