Having spent two years at Arsenal, Leandro Trossard would have been one of the senior players to welcome Raheem Sterling at the Emirates Stadium — even though the latter has plenty of experience under his belt.

Raheem Sterling has had a tough time for the Gunners as he has been on the periphery of things so far.

Signed on a season-long loan from Chelsea, it seemed like the England international could thrive at Arsenal due to his relationship with Mikel Arteta at Manchester City.

While Arsenal will not cancel Sterling’s loan deal, it is alarming that he has started just six games in all competitions this season.

Sterling has been deemed the summer’s worst signing as he strives to redeem his career.

After leaving Manchester City in favour of a move to Chelsea, the four-time Premier League winner’s stock has plummetted.

Leandro Trossard says he gets along “very well” with Raheem Sterling

But it is part and parcel of football for players to suffer tough times.

Oleksandr Zinchenko claimed Sterling is “unstoppable” at his best, which Arsenal fans are yet to see come to fruition.

Ahead of the Gunners’ contest against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, Trossard revealed that he has a great relationship with Sterling and revealed that he always helps the young players behind the scenes.

The Belgian said via HaytersTV: “Yeah obviously, he’s a very experienced player. I get along very well with him. Not particular with me but he also helps a lot the young guys, as they need it so I think he will help the players a lot.”

“I think he’s a quality player who can help us a lot moving forward.”

Sterling’s spell at Arsenal has split opinion.

Mikel Arteta praised Sterling and was confident he could become of great use to his side.

But then Paul Merson was worried about Sterling at Arsenal from the very start as he did not even feature against Manchester City.

Edu Gaspar admitted Arsenal “never planned” to sign Raheem Sterling

Arsenal did not plan to initially sign Sterling, as revealed by Edu Gaspar after the decorated winger made his way to London Colney.

“Well, to be fair, we never planned, really, to sign him when we started the transfer window, yeah, just to be very transparent, for different reasons.”

"But we always say to everyone, you have to be prepared for every scenario, so when that opportunity came to me, and I checked our squad, I checked how he plays, I spoke to Mikel of course, I spoke to Tim, our vice-chairman, to check if everyone is comfortable for the step that we're going to make.”

However, Edu claimed that Sterling’s experience of playing at the highest level and winning trophies made his addition a no-brainer at the end.

“Makes a lot of sense to have someone like him because I'm pretty sure that he's going to add a lot in the squad, so he has experience – he understands more than anyone, the league.”

"He plays Champions League many times, won the Premier League a few times as well, so I think he can add a lot to our squad."

Arsenal supporters will be hoping that Sterling, who could take Gabriel Martinelli’s place gets a run of games to prove his worth.

Especially in the Premier League, Mikel Arteta’s side play the likes of Wolves, Manchester City, Leicester City, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest — fixtures where the 30-year-old can certainly get minutes.
