After 11 games played, Liverpool are five points ahead of Manchester City and nine ahead of Arsenal – Arne Slot's new era has started in remarkable fashion.

Mikel Arteta has been waiting for Pep Guardiola's Man City winning-machine to malfunction in recent seasons, and now it has, Arsenal haven't been on hand to capitalise.

Instead, Liverpool have taken advantage of their Premier League rivals faltering, even if very few expected Slot's side to be able to compete in their first season after Jurgen Klopp.

But Slot has taken to Anfield remarkably well, even without welcoming any new significant signings to the club.

Federico Chiesa has barely played and Giorgi Mamardashvili isn't even at the club yet.

Micah Richards still tips Man City to win the Premier League

That considered, Micah Richards shared his verdict on the Premier League title race when speaking on 'The Rest is Football' podcast.

Richards confessed that he still thought that Man City would beat Liverpool and Arsenal to the title.

The pundit highlighted Kevin De Bruyne as the potential difference-maker, perhaps expecting the 33-year-old to roll back the years for one last time.

Richards said: "I think there's sort of been an overreaction at times. Yes they've lost four in a row, but one was in the League Cup and the other was in the Champions League.

"So it was only two league games, isn't it? I did say at the start of the season that the difference between Arsenal winning the league and Man City winning the league, is if they were to lose Rodri, or Arsenal were to maybe lose [Bukayo] Saka.

“So I think it'll be a lot closer this year, but I still think Man City will do it.

"And the player I think should step up, Kevin De Bruyne, I think he's got the most experience.

"Coming back from injury, and he's, I think he will step up, no I think he should step up. They're a different team when he's in the side.

"So my best is still on Man City."

Pep Guardiola could provide a boost for Man City over international break

Whilst City are in a tough moment right now, perhaps they could be about to receive a big boost which could galvanise their spirits.

City expect Guardiola to sign a new contract in the coming weeks, putting an end to the speculation over his future.

The City boss has already won six Premier League titles in England, a remarkable feat, and few would bet against him adding another medal to his repertoire despite Liverpool's lead.

Of course, after navigating several difficult away ties already this season, Arsenal won't be counting themselves out just yet.

And Martin Odegaard's return could still be a huge factor in the run up to Christmas.
