Ange Postecoglou hasn't had the easiest of times at Tottenham over the past nine months or so.

Spurs' form has been up and down since the start of 2024, and questions have been asked of Ange Postecoglou at times this season.

Many have questioned Postecoglou's tactics and the stubbornness around the high line he plays.

However, speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has called for the Australian to change the way he acts in the media.

Indeed, the former England manager says that he'd like Postecoglou to cheer up, claiming that he needs to show more personality in the media.

Sam Allardyce wants Ange Postecoglou to cheer up

Allardyce shared his verdict on what the Tottenham manager needs to change.

"I wish he would cheer up by the way. When he comes on for the media. He puts his head down and he hardly looks. I wish he would show a bit more of his personality because he does have a personality with his players."

Ange Postecoglou's personality doesn't matter

Allardyce wants Postecoglou to cheer up, but the reality is that how cheery he is in interviews doesn't matter.

Some of the greatest managers of all-time are prickly with the media.

Alex Ferguson famously refused to speak to the BBC for a long time when he was the manager of Manchester United, while Jose Mourinho was never afraid to dress down a journalist when he needed to.

Postecoglou isn't an entertainer, he's a football manager, and he doesn't owe anyone a smile or a good level of energy in a press conference.

The only thing that matters are results on the pitch, and that's what Postecoglou needs to be focused on rather than trying to impress the media with a bubbly and upbeat personality.

Postecoglou needs to focus solely on his team’s performances rather than how he comes across in the media.
