Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate has taken to social media to send a message to the fans after the Reds drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old was substituted after 66 minutes on 14 January as Liverpool shared the points with their surprise challengers for the Premier League title.

Forest took the lead inside eight minutes, thanks to a clinical left-footed finish from Chris Wood.

Liverpool found their way back into the game in the second-half as substitutes Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota combined to level for the Reds.

Despite the Merseyside club dominating the ball with 71% possession and having 23 shots to Forest’s six, the Garibaldis held firm to steal a point away, and continue their impressive form. [Fotmob]

The point gained for Liverpool sees them pull seven points clear of Arsenal who sit in third ahead of the North London derby 24 hours later, whilst Forest move up to second in the table, six points behind their opponents.

Ibrahima Konate return from injury is a big-boost to Liverpool

The Frenchman had missed six of Liverpool’s 20 Premier League games this season after picking up a knee injury in the Champions League against Real Madrid.

Konate has been an immense presence next to captain Virgil van Dijk, as the pair make up one of the stingiest defences in the league, with Arsenal the only side to concede fewer goals than Liverpool.

Despite dropping points, the defender chose to take a glass-half-full approach with his message on Instagram saying: “A point on the road! On to the weekend.”

Liverpool fans will be keen to see their team bounce back following the draw against Forest, and will be even more hopeful that the news of Mohamed Salah’s potential departure to Saudi Arabia does not come to fruition.

The Reds take on Brentford this coming Saturday (18 January), the Bees will be feeling confident having drawn 2-2 with champions Manchester City on 14 January.

In other news, a Forest star may be on his way to Liverpool after a “concrete” confession.
