'If you asked me': What David Moyes said about new West Ham boss Graham Potter in 2021 is now very interesting

On Thursday, West Ham United finally confirmed that Graham Potter had replaced Julen Lopetegui as their new manager.
TBR Football had previously confirmed that Graham Potter agreed to join West Ham in December as Lopetegui’s future was uncertain.
The Englishman chose not to steer clear of the managerial scene after Chelsea sacked him following their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in April 2023.
After his hiatus nearly lasted two years, Potter has returned to management, with West Ham targeting Marcus Rashford on loan this month to kickstart his spell at the London Stadium.
Graham Potter received widespread praise for the terrific job he during his spell at Brighton & Hove Albion.
However, the now-West Ham boss was famously booed by several Brighton supporters at the Amex Stadium after the Seagulls drew 0-0 to Leeds United in November 2021.
David Moyes said West Ham boss Graham Potter was a “top manager” in 2021
Brighton fans’ frustration stemmed from the fact that despite their side sitting in eighth place in the Premier League at the time, they were winless in eight games, drawing six of them.
Ahead of West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Brighton, David Moyes launched a staunch defence of Graham Potter.
Moyes said via the Jersey Evening Post: They are really lucky to have Graham Potter as manager and you shouldn't forget that.”
“He is a top manager, has got a really good team.”
David Moyes went on to back Graham Potter by admitting that it is part and parcel of management to get booed while pinpointing how well his Brighton side used to play.
“We all get booed at times in our career. You just have to move on and I'm sure Graham [Potter] knows what he is doing more than the people who booed.”
“Every team who plays Brighton understands that they can cause you problems, play with a really good style and have made a good start to the season.”
Karen Brady pushed to appoint Graham Potter and West Ham fans will be delighted to hear that David Moyes continued to sing his praises.
The Scotsman added: “I think Graham Potter has done a really good job. They have gone about their work really well.
“If you asked me last season who I would tip to improve, I would say Brighton.”
“I think overall, they are a well-run football club and Graham is a really good manager.”
Graham Potter’s first words as West Ham boss
After being officially confirmed as West Ham’s manager, Graham Potter expressed his delight.
“Amazing. Very proud day. I’m really, really excited.”
“Looking forward to meet the players, get out on the training pitch and working with them and then eventually get in front of our supporters.”
Graham Potter revealed how he felt about West Ham supporters during his time at Brighton.
“As an away manager, the fans here have always been incredibly supportive and I’m looking forward to meeting them as well.”
