Ilkay Gundogan makes Premier League title prediction ahead of Liverpool vs Man City

Ilkay Gundogan admits Manchester City’s Premier League title hopes will be over if they lose to Liverpool on Sunday.
It has been a nightmare spell for the champions, with five defeats and a draw in their last six outings across all competitions.
Liverpool are already eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table after a brilliant start to the season and Gundogan feels the gap cannot get any bigger if they want to keep hold of their title.
Asked if it is a must-win for City when they go to Anfield on Sunday, the Germany international said: ‘To stay in the title race, probably yes, because 11 points would be a huge gap. It’s still early in the season.
‘There are still a lot of games to play and a lot of things can happen, not just on our side but at every other team. But obviously we have to look at ourselves and try to do the things we can do better, as quickly as possible.
‘We take it, stay humble, head down and try to put in the work in the next few days and prepare as well as possible for a tough game.
‘Anfield is always tough, no matter the situation. We’ve struggled in recent years going there and we know Liverpool are a great team full of confidence right now. It’s going to be as tough as it is possible to be. But that sums up the situation right now. It seems we have to go through this season the toughest way possible.’
Guardiola agrees with his midfielder, as when he was posed with the same question he said: ‘Yes. In terms of Liverpool winning, winning, winning it’s true. I don’t know what is going to happen, but the reality is here and we have to win games.’
He added: ‘We are a bit fragile right now, but we can’t run away. We have to face it. I would like to say there is just one reason for losing three Premier League games in a row. There are many details that we have to fix.’
City’s last win was a 1-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on 26 October.
Since that time Liverpool drew with Arsenal in the top flight and then have won five straight games across the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup.
Arne Slot’s side are back in action on Wednesday evening as they host Real Madrid.
