Estevao has been discussing where he believes his best position and why he is keen to return there in future at Chelsea.

The Brazilian is due to join Chelsea next summer which was agreed a part of the £51 million deal that saw him sign for the West London club back in June.

Estevao’s performances have already caught the eye of Enzo Maresca and the Blues’ fans will be excited for his arrival in the summer of 2025.

The 17-year-old is currently plying his trade on the right wing, however, the teenager has revealed where he actually thinks his best position is.

Estevao wants to return to midfield

Estevao Willian has revealed that he wants to return to being a midfielder like he was when he was playing academy football.

The Chelsea man has explained how he switched to the wing during the latter stages of his time in the academy to avoid so much physical contact.

Estevao claims that despite earning his place in the first-team at Palmerias through being a winger, he desires to eventually return to being a midfielder.

Estevao told FIFA: “I started playing as a winger towards the end of my academy days, to avoid as much physical contact and give me more one versus one’s.

“That's how I earned my spot in the Palmeiras side, where there's a lot of competition for places in the middle of the park, but really, I'm more of a midfielder.

“That's where I'm in my element. In a few years' time, I'd like to get back to playing in my original position.”

Where could Estevao fit in at Chelsea?

Estevao will face a tough test attempting to claim the number ten role at Chelsea with Cole Palmer currently occupying that role.

It’s most likely that the teenager will have to compete with Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto for the right-wing spot.

Madueke and Neto have both struggled for consistency this season so there is the chance for the young talent to make that role his.
