James Maddison sends surprise message to Tamworth goalkeeper after Spurs win

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has made the surprise move to congratulate Tamworth goalkeeper Jasbir Singh online after his performance in their 3-0 FA Cup win.
The 28-year-old was given the captain’s armband as Ange Postecoglu’s side made hard work of their FA Cup third-round tie against non-league Tamworth.
Singh, 34, capped off a remarkable week that saw him welcome a child with an impressive performance against one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.
The goalkeeper played the full 120 minutes, ending a bust afternoon having made four saves, ten recoveries, and 36 touches.
Maddison had a number of opportunities to open the scoring, most notably receiving the ball from Timo Werner, turning Haydn Hollis but then failing to beat Singh.
Spurs dominated the game, having a number of chances to give their side a lead, but were ultimately unable to break down Tamworth's stubborn defence, with the Timo Werner having a header cleared off the line.
Ange Postecoglu scrambled to try and salvage a result in added time, bringing on Dominic Solanke, Heung-Min Son, and Kulusevski, with the Swedish winger replacing Maddison.
Tottenham finally made the breakthrough thanks to an own goal from Tamworth midfielder Nathan Tshikuna before with Kulusevski scoring just six minutes later.

Maddison has impressed as Tottenham have struggled, starting 19 of his 28 games across all competitions, scoring eight goals, and providing five assists in his 1643 minutes of action.
The England international took to X, formally known as Twitter, to congratulate Singh on his week, saying: “Congratulations. Top performance as well to go with it.”
Tottenham will face much tougher opposition in the fourth round, traveling to Unai Emery's impressive Aston Villa side who beat West Ham 2-1 in their third-round tie.
Postecoglu's attention will return to the Premier League on Wednesday (January 15), however, as they travel across North London to face bitter rivals Arsenal.
