Calvin Bassey sent a message to Fulham supporters following victory over Tottenham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

Marco Silva’s side got back to winning ways following a heartbreaking defeat to Brighton last time out, piling the pressure on Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou with a 2-0 win on 16 March.

The two sides looked to be heading for a boring 0-0 draw in West London, only for substitute Rodrigo Muniz to fire past Guglielmo Vicario 15 minutes after coming onto the pitch.

Ryan Sessegnon, coming back to haunt his former club, got in on the goalscoring action, netting for just the second time since arriving at Craven Cottage on a free transfer last summer.

All three points for the Cottagers sees them rise to eighth in the Premier League table, just four points below fourth-place Chelsea in the race for European football.

Taking to Instagram [16 March], Bassey wrote: “Business! Vital win at home. See you after international duty,” with a tornado emoji.

The centre-back’s post was liked by those such as Tariq Lamptey, Joe Aribo, Ianis Hagi and Ryan Sessegnon, as well as Man United’s Joshua Zirkzee and Arsenal’s Jurrien Timber.

Marco Silva ready to bring European football to Craven Cottage

Football Insider verdict

The European race is still wide open in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa and Bournemouth all fighting for a top-four finish.

Following another impressive victory, the Cottagers have every chance of securing European football next season, but if that is not to happen, Silva has already been backed to leave Fulham for a bigger club.

Fulham face tough competition for a European finish this season.

The manager is clearly building something special at Craven Cottage, but unless his work can yield quick results in the Premier League, it might be too easy to persuade him to move away.

The 2011/12 campaign was the last time the club finished higher than 10th place in the top tier of English football, and with nine games of the current season remaining, that could still happen.

Attention will also be on the upcoming FA Cup clash against Crystal Palace, which could distract some away from their best Premier League finish in over a decade.
