Joshua Zirkzee's reaction to Man United fans revealed after he's left in tears

Man United fans have shown their support for Joshua Zirkzee after the forward was booed off during their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford on 30 December.
Ruben Amorim opted to take the forward off after just 33 minutes that day, and he was met with hostility from his own supporters as he made his way off the pitch and back to the dressing room.
Now, though, the travelling supporters were keen to make amends during the 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield – United’s first game since the incident.
As the 23-year-old warmed up on the sidelines and in front of the away end, fans could be heard singing his chant, “ohh Joshua Zirkzee”, in a show of support.
He responded by giving a wave to the crowd, acknowledging their backing despite the abuse he had received six days earlier.
This comes after reports claimed Zirkzee was left in tears as he headed down the tunnel following his first-half substitution and the angry reaction from the stands.

Zirkzee joined United under the guidance of Erik ten Hag, making the £36.5million move from Bologna in July as the boss looked to solve his centre-forward issues.
Fast forward six months, Amorim is now in charge, but the striker has failed to make the desired impact under either boss, leading to plenty of frustration from the stands.
In 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season, the Dutchman has found the net just four times, while providing two assists.
Of those 28 appearances, 17 have come from the bench as he has been afforded limited first-team minutes, but has so far failed to justify a lofty price tag.
Despite this, United’s travelling support were keen to ensure his head does not drop after the confidence-destroying reaction in their last game.
Still just 23 years old, Zirkzee has yet to find his feet at Old Trafford, but will rely on the backing of his fans and manager, and hearing the fans sing his name will have come as a welcome boost.
Football Insider revealed in November that United will not make any knee-jerk decisions about the striker’s future and will be given the opportunity to ignite his career at the club.
