There has been a twist over the future of Manchester United star Joshua Zirkzee, according to reports.
It was thought that Zirkzee, linked with Juventus, was pushing for a move away from the Red Devils during the current January transfer window following a bleak spell for United in the Premier League.
Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Zirkzee was already keen to leave after becoming frustrated and despondent at the Theatre of Dreams.
However, those reports have now been rubbished by football transfer expert Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky in Germany journalist says United have been informed that Zirkzee wants to stay at the club this winter.
It is believed Zirkzee has no intention of leaving United and is instead keen to prove himself with a strong belief in his own abilities.
Juventus remain interested in a deal – but there has never been any commitment from the player – or advanced talks between the Italian club and his representatives.
Zirkzee's faltering United career hit a new low at the end of December as he was subbed off after just 33 minutes during the Premier League defeat to Newcastle United.
The 23-year-old was even jeered off by some fans and headed straight down the tunnel – a decision that was widely slammed – before coming back out to sit on the bench.
Zirkzee has only managed to produce four goals and two assists across 28 games for United since the Red Devils spent £36.5m to sign him from Serie A side Bologna last summer.
Ben Foster believes Zirkzee 'would be done' at Old Trafford if legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge of the club.
Current head coach Ruben Amorim, though, recently said that he wants Zirkzee to remain with United.
'I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he's trying in training,' Amorim told talkSPORT after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool last time out. ‘But we don't know. The window is open and we will see what happens.’
