Everton now have substantial ties with the United States following the takeover by The Friedkin Group (TFG) in December 2024.
The new owners want to take a US-style approach towards matchdays at Everton’s new stadium as they aim to boost revenue.
And in a new announcement, David Moyes’ side have been confirmed as participants in the Premier League Summer Series – held in the US across three matchdays in pre-season.
Fans will be given the chance to see two games back-to-back on each day of the tournament, which will be hosted in New Jersey, Chicago and Atalanta.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has had his say on the announcement.
Everton pre-season plans are ‘great idea for fans’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted the “amazing” event will attract lots of fans from around the United States.
Wyness has already told Football Insider, prior to the announcement (27 February), that participation could bank Everton up to $10million (around £8million).
He told Football Insider's Inside Track podcast: "I think the double-headers – a day of football – are a great idea for fans.
"I hope there's no issue with security as opposing fans come together, but we've not really seen those issues in the US.
"It's also going to be great for the travelling fans – where it costs a lot for flights, hotels, transport, etc.
"I think this will attract a lot of fans from around the States.
"It's amazing that they've made it a real event; it's a celebration of football – it could be a great advert for football in America.
"With the World Cup coming up, they need to show that real fun can be had at football matches in the US."
Everton set to open new Doucoure talks
Football Insider revealed on Monday (10 March) that Everton are set to renegotiate terms with Abdoulaye Doucoure after declining to activate his one-year extension clause.
Sources say a fresh deal for the midfielder "can't be ruled out" given his continued importance for Everton.

His current contract is set to expire in June and Doucoure could become one of several stars to walk away from the club for free if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane are among the other Everton stars with expiring contracts.
