Liverpool target Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has potentially dropped a major transfer hint after following Virgil van Dijk on social media.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool could be tempted to make a move for the 23-year-old should he decide to leave Napoli in January.
It’s reported that while Liverpool aren’t actively looking to sign a winger, progression over a deal with PSG could see Arne Slot’s side make a move.
The French club are said to be the favourites to sign Kvaratskhelia, he remains a target for both Liverpool and Chelsea.
Kvaratskhelia has two years remaining on his contract at Napoli and with no progression in talks over a renewal, several clubs are starting to circle.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of their FA Cup tie with Accrington Stanley, Slot addressed the rumours.
Slot said: “What I make of that is it is January. I think I said it after the West Ham game that don’t disappoint me, please come up with all these clubs and all these players that are in the interest from us or the ones that don’t play a lot for us are going to go somewhere else! Yeah, that’s what’s happening now.
“Nine out of 10 times, 99 times out of 100 times in the end of the window, it’s been clear that almost all of these stories weren’t true. So, what can I comment about it? That the rumours keep going for it, but no comments from my side.”
The Georgian winger has been key for Antonio Conte’s side this season, starting 16 of his 19 games across all competitions, scoring five goals, and providing three assists in his 1291 minutes of action.
Napoli currently sit at the top of the Serie A table with 14 wins, two draws, three defeats, and 44 points from their 19 games.
Khvica Kvaratskhelia ‘follows’ Virgil van Dijk as Liverpool rumours circulate
Van Dijk, 33, has been a driving force behind Liverpool’s impressive first half of the season, starting all of his 26 games this season, popping up with two goals, and providing one assist in his 2340 minutes on the field.
Despite his impressive form, the defender is one of three key Liverpool players, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, who are out of contract at the end of the season.
Kvaratskhelia follows Van Dijk on Instagram, something that could be seen as potential interest in a move to Liverpool.
Liverpool have six games remaining in January alone, including crucial Champions League, ties with Lille and PSV as they seek to retain their 100 per cent record in the new league phase.
Slot’s side will travel to high-flying Nottingham Forest after the game against Accrington Stanley as they continue to lead the Premier League title race.
