Kieran Trippier mocks Mikel Arteta over Arsenal vs Newcastle issue

Kieran Trippier appears to have aimed a small dig at Mikel Arteta after his Arsenal side’s defeat to Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
Arteta saw his Gunners team beaten 2-0 by the Magpies in the first leg of their semi-final tie on Tuesday night (7 January), thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.
After the game, the Spaniard was ridiculed by a number of his own supporters, after appearing to attempt to use the difference in ball between the Premier League and Carabao Cup as an excuse for the loss.
Now it seems as though those comments from the Arsenal boss have also generated some amusement within the Newcastle camp as well.

Following that defeat to Eddie Howe’s side in midweek, the Gunners return to action on Sunday (12 January), when they host Man United in the third round of the FA Cup.
It has emerged that the Red Devils will be allowed to use a specially decorated ball against Arsenal to celebrate the fact they are the current title holders in the competition.
One Man United fan then took to social media to react to that revelation by joking “Arteta isn’t going to like that”, after what he said following the defeat to Newcastle.
A screenshot of that post was then shared on the Odds Bible Instagram page, along with the caption “Someone check on Mikel Arteta”.
Among those spotted liking that post, was Newcastle right-back Trippier, suggesting the Arsenal manager’s comments have been a source of humour for their opponents in that defeat.
Trippier has been an unused substitute for Newcastle in their last two games, including that win over the Gunners.
That comes as Football Insider understands the 34-year-old could be sold by the Magpies in the January transfer window as the club look to cope with PSR issues.
