Leicester 'in trouble' as new points deduction threat revealed - Keith Wyness

Everton's former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leicester City’s confidence over avoiding a points deduction is “misplaced”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the Foxes are being chased by the Premier League and EFL over their financial woes.
Football Insider revealed on 3 January that Leicester are likely to have breached the Profit and Sustainability (PSR) Rules for 2023-24 following their long-standing financial concerns.
Leicester were charged in March 2024 with a breach of the PSR rules for the 2022-23 campaign, but successfully appealed against the Premier League’s right to do so.
Everton and Nottingham Forest were both docked points and the Midlands club would likely suffer a similar fate if they are found guilty.
Nevertheless, finance expert Kieran Maguire previously revealed to talkSPORT (2 December) that King Power Stadium chiefs are "very confident" of avoiding a spending breach following their transfer dealings last season.
Leicester have ‘big red mark right next to them’ as points deduction looms, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider's Insider Track podcast: "I think their confidence is misplaced, I think they're in trouble.
"The way they have handled the situation means the Premier League and EFL are both going to be chasing them now.
"They're going to find a way for Leicester to face a points deduction in some way.
"I still think that with the PSR issues they have, they're going to be very tight.
"With a new manager, it's going to be too much – they're becoming one of my favourites to make up the bottom three.
"It may just be too much. If there is a points deduction, it's just going to be too hard.
"They're on my watch list with a big red mark right next to them."
