Lennon Miller told to make Celtic transfer decision - 'I wouldn't be surprised'

Celtic are just one of the clubs chasing Motherwell star Lennon Miller after his impressive breakthrough in the Scottish Premiership.
Football Insider revealed on 9 March that Celtic are "very interested" in signing Miller – but will face competition from Lyon and other European sides.
The 18-year-old has earned his first senior Scotland call-up in recent days after his previous experience with the Under-21 side.
Miller has claimed it is his ambition to be “Scotland’s best player” after making the grade in the senior setup.
But Aberdeen's former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has poured cold water on the idea of Celtic sealing a move for the talented youngster.
Miller should snub Celtic for Italy move, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness suggested Miller would be better-served following senior countryman Scott McTominay, Billy Gilmour and Che Adams to Italy.
The teenager has already amassed 67 senior appearances for Motherwell – scoring five goals and providing nine assists.
Wyness also claimed Motherwell would recieve a better fee if Miller moved abroad.
Player | Club |
Scott McTominay | Napoli |
Billy Gilmour | Napoli |
Che Adams | Torino |
Lewis Ferguson | Bologna |
Liam Henderson | Empoli |
Josh Doig | Sassuolo |
He told Football Insider's Inside Track podcast: "I wouldn't be surprised if he followed the likes of Gilmour and McTominay to Italy.
"There are a few Scottish players who have gone to Serie A and been very successful, they seem to suit that style of play.
"That's one option which shouldn't be discounted.
"It shouldn't be down to Celtic to keep Scottish talent in the country, they've got to find the right pathway for themselves.
"It isn't always staying in Scotland and being sucked up by the Old Firm.
"Motherwell might be better served with a bigger fee if he went elsewhere."
‘Rodgers could quit Celtic – again’
Meanwhile, Football Insider has been told by Ally McCoist (5 March) that Brendan Rodgers could be tempted to leave Celtic again in search of a new challenge.
Celtic's dramatic draw with Bayern Munich last month, which saw them knocked out of the Champions League on aggregate, raised eyebrows all over Europe.
The 52-year-old left Celtic Park in 2019 to join Leicester City after winning three Scottish Premiership titles in a row.
