Arsenal will be looking for an immediate bounce back following their defeat on the weekend against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

And Mikel Arteta‘s side will have the perfect opportunity to do just that on Tuesday night when they feature in the Champions League.

The Gunners suffered an unexpected loss against the Cherries on the weekend but Arsenal will be able to put that behind them with a win in Europe.

Arsenal will be coming up against the Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk as they look to keep their unbeaten run in the Champions League going.

With Arteta’s only trophy as the Arsenal manager coming back in 2020, finally adding the European crown to Arsenal’s trophy cabinet would be seen as an enormous achievement for this side.

And it is an achievement which former Arsenal defender Tony Adams feels they are capable of pulling off.

What Tony Adams said about Tottenham in Arsenal prediction

Although Tottenham Hotspur often get mocked for not lifting any silverware since the 2008 League Cup, they did come close under Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham were able to make it through to the 2019 Champions League final where they ultimately lost to Liverpool.

And that is something which is clearly giving Adams a lot of optimism regarding Arsenal’s chances in this season’s competition.

Speaking to the Mirror, Adams took aim at Arsenal’s north London rivals as he claimed the Gunners could win the league and the European crown this season.

“In 2005 Liverpool won it when they were nowhere near the title and Tottenham of course, got to the final in 2019. Listen, if Tottenham can get to the final – anybody can,” he said.

“You need a little bit of luck, I don’t want to be flippant but back in my day, I was out of Europe for five years. Nowadays, you are getting more and more chances to win it and it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Arsenal might actually win the Champions League and the Premier League.”

Arsenal have a point to prove on Sunday

The game of the weekend comes from the Emirates Stadium this weekend when top of the league Liverpool make the trip to the capital.

Arsenal will be seen as having a slight edge on Arne Slot’s side going into the game as they play at home in the Champions League and a day earlier.

Liverpool don’t play until Wednesday night and they are playing away to RB Leipzig which will hand the Gunners a slight advantage going into the weekend.

However, with William Saliba suspended and Bukayo Saka potentially out through injury, this is where Arteta’s side will have to work for their place in the title race.
