Liverpool have enjoyed a solid maiden season under Arne Slot and remain firmly in contention for the Premier League title and the Champions League.

With the January transfer window now in full swing, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has the opportunity to bring in some reinforcements if he so wishes.

Liverpool have been linked with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of late, with TBR Football sources saying the Reds are the main contenders from England to sign him.

David Ornstein has now given an update on the Reds’ stance towards potentially making a move for the Georgia international as early as this month.

Liverpool ready to pounce on Kvicha Kvaratskhelia this month if opportunity arises

Ornstein has reported in The Athletic that Liverpool could indeed consider a move to sign Kvaratskhelia should it be decided that he is to leave Napoli this month.

Although Paris Saint-Germain are emerging as the leading contenders, Liverpool are ‘also attentive to this situation’, along with Chelsea.

This is despite the Reds being well-stocked out wide, with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez all capable of operating from the left-hand side.

Ornstein speculated that this may ‘may take a significant departure to create space for an addition such as Kvaratskhelia’, irrespective of Napoli's interest in Federico Chiesa.

Admittedly, Liverpool are not specifically chasing a player of Kvaratskhelia's profile at present, added Ornstein.

However, he is ‘somebody they admire, are keeping tabs on and will be ready to contend for if it becomes a market opportunity.’

What Jamie Carragher previously said about Kvaratskhelia

Kvaratskhelia has exploded onto the scene over the past few years, making a name for himself as one of football's rising stars and helping Napoli to Serie A glory in 2023.

He also shone for Georgia at Euro 2024, helping them not only reach their first major tournament, but also reach the last 16 of the competition.

However, Kvaratskhelia is refusing to sign a new deal with Napoli and talks have now been ongoing for over 12 months, TBR Football has previously reported.

With that in mind, Napoli could potentially cash in, and Liverpool could well move for a player Jamie Carragher previously described as “the most exciting player in Europe”.

However, competition for Kvaratskhelia is likely to be fierce, and PSG currently appear to be in pole position, so it may be a difficult battle for Liverpool.
