Liverpool fans: Diogo Jota 'must be sold' after 'disaster' v Newcastle

Liverpool fans are calling for Diogo Jota to be sold in the summer after his performance in the Carabao Cup final v Newcastle United.
Arne Slot’s side fell to a crushing 2-1 defeat at Wembley after Dan Burn gave Newcastle the lead from a corner shortly before half-time.
The second half saw Alexander Isak’s first strike disallowed for offside, before he returned just minutes later to fire the ball past Caoimhin Kelleher and score what was ultimately the winner despite Federico Chiesa’s late strike.
Amid plenty of frustrations, the red side of Wembley was especially left raging at the performance of Jota as he failed to impact the game up front.
On a day where Mohamed Salah also struggled without Trent Alexander-Arnold behind him, Jota and Luis Diaz both failed to provide the desired attacking impact.
The Portugal forward was withdrawn and replaced by Darwin Nunez after 57 minutes, having failed to complete a single dribble or shot on target, as he completed just four passes and missed one big chance. [Sofascore]
Both forwards have been linked with moves away from Anfield come the summer, and fans are now insisting they should be the first out of the door this summer.
Liverpool prepare for attacking exodus after Arne Slot decision
Slot’s side are staring at a potential attacking exodus this summer as a number of their forwards are expected to be up for sale come the end of the season.
This comes after former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal are interested in signing Jota to bolster their options.
Alongside Jota, Liverpool are open to offers for Diaz and will look to use the money from his sale to reinvest in a new starting number nine.
Slot will look to strengthen his attacking options in the summer and work has already begun behind the scenes to identify the ideal options.
Diogo Jota leaves fans fuming after what he did v Newcastle
Despite their summer preparations, Slot will be stuck with Jota, Diaz and Nunez at least for the remainder of the season amid ongoing frustrations.
The forwards have been a constant source of frustration despite Liverpool’s league success, as they bowed out of the Champions League, FA Cup and now League Cup.
Most of that frustration has now been aimed at Jota as a result of his cup final display, and Liverpool fans labelled him “woeful” and a “disaster”.
