Liverpool fans now left outraged by what the Premier League have put on their official website

Liverpool fans are enjoying themselves this season.
Arne Slot has the Reds sat six points clear at the top of the Premier League – with a game in hand as well – while the Dutchman has also overseen a 100% record from seven UEFA Champions League outings.

Liverpool also remain in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
Should Slot guide Liverpool – who could miss out on Joshua Kimmich – to the Premier League title this season, it would go some way towards mending the pain of previous title races against Manchester City in recent years, where the Reds have accumulated over 90 points in numerous campaigns, but still lost out to the Citizens.
Along the way, some dubious decisions have been made which cost Liverpool – and the Premier League have now upset fans by reminding them of one bizarre call in a mocking fashion.
Liverpool fans furious at Premier League’s choice of image for high foot challenges
Last season, you may recall Liverpool drew 1-1 against Manchester City at Anfield.
A penalty from Alexis Mac Allister cancelled out an opener by John Stones, although there was uproar within Anfield after Jeremy Doku karate kicked the Liverpool No.10 in the chest – inside the box – with just seconds to go.
Howard Webb explains the following decisions on Match Officials Mic'd Up:

Michael Oliver did not deem the challenge to be a high foot, and Manchester City escaped with a point, ultimately going on to secure a fourth consecutive Premier League title in the final ten games.
However, Liverpool fans have now noticed the Premier League are using an image of Doku’s lunge on Mac Allister as the official photograph to show what constitutes a high foot challenge, which almost feels like they’re mocking the Reds.
The official Premier league website is using Doku on Mac Allister as the example of a high foot challenge… except this wasn't given as a foul during the game.#LFC#PGMOLpic.twitter.com/G2qmtTxVZF

One Liverpool fan ignited the outrage by posting: “The official Premier League website is using Doku on Mac Allister as the example of a high foot challenge… except this wasn’t given as a foul during the game.”
Joke of an institution

In response, a second Liverpool supporter called the Premier League a “joke of an institution” – you can understand the anger here, as a win in this game could well have fired the Reds to the title in Jurgen Klopp’s last season.
Proper comedians. Even Mr Bean would do a better job.

A third Liverpool fan called the Premier League “proper comedians” – adding that “even Mr Bean would do a better job” than the current officials.
Now that….. Is absolutely shocking. Even for them.

Furthermore, a fourth Liverpool fan wrote: “Now that is absolutely shocking. Even for them.”
Imagine if this happened to Arsenal. They'll cry conspiracy for next 10 years.

A fifth supporter added: “Imagine if this happened to Arsenal. They’d cry conspiracy for the next ten years.”
We win the league if that's given as well. Comical.
— James Owens (@jameso_12) January 27, 2025
Last but not least, another Liverpool fan echoed our earlier sentiment, posting: “We win the league if that’s given as well. Comical.”
When do Liverpool play their game in hand?
As aforesaid, Liverpool – who want Milos Kerkez – have a game in hand over Arsenal, so Slot could actually go nine points clear of Mikel Arteta if he wins it.
As you may know, the game in hand comes against Everton, after Storm Darragh postponed the Merseyside derby back in December.
Liverpool travel to Goodison Park for the rearranged fixture on Wednesday 12th February, although it seems a tougher test than it would have been with Sean Dyche at the helm.
After starting with a defeat to Aston Villa, David Moyes has taken six points from clashes against Tottenham and Brighton, so the Toffees now represent a tricky encounter for Liverpool.
