'Liverpool now more likely to sign Marc Guehi' after £70m bid submitted

Tottenham are preparing to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window in a bid to close the gap between them and the top Premier League clubs next season.
Spurs are a long way adrift of European places in the Premier League table currently as they sit 13th after what has been a dismal campaign for Ange Postecoglou's men.
However, Daniel Levy is looking to back the manager financially in the summer and Football Insider revealed that signing a central midfielder is the priority.
Providing more defensive cover is also something Postecoglou wants after a season destroyed by injuries, and Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi is top of the list.
Spurs made a late-window bid of £70million for the England international but were unsuccessful in their attempts.
Industry insider Mick Brown revealed that Spurs haven't given up on their attempts to sign the 24-year-old, which could see them return to negotiating with the Eagles in summer.
Tottenham should have signed Marc Guehi in January
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson made it clear that Spurs will need to "get a price" and "agree to pay it" or risk the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle signing Guehi instead.
"They should have done it in January," Robinson told Football Insider.
"I mean, that bid at the end of the window was a very West Ham-like bid, wasn’t it?
"It was putting a bid into the public domain where everybody could see, but everybody knew realistically that they weren’t going to achieve the signing that they wanted to in the same way that West Ham did with Jhon Duran.
"If you want a player of Mark Guehi’s quality, I’ve said it before, you don’t wait till the window opens.

"You go to Steve Parish and you go to Crystal Palace before the window opens, every player’s got a price, Steve Parish gives you a price.
"You either pay it or you don’t pay it. Tottenham, if they want the player, they have to go and pay it and beat everybody else to the race.
"We know that Newcastle are admirers, we know that Liverpool are admirers, they’re more likely, let’s be honest, he’s going to have admirers from all over Europe.
"He’s a top-quality player where at the end of the season, he’s going to have 12 months left on his contract. There’s a deal to be done because it works for both the player and Crystal Palace.
"You get a price and you agree to pay it and it’s that simple, and then they need to do that with more players."
Crystal Palace have made a decision on Marc Guehi
According to The Guardian, Palace have decided that they will sell Guehi this summer rather than risk letting him leave for free during the following transfer window.
This decision has come after interest around Adam Wharton and Jean-Philippe Mateta has grown, as the Eagles aren't expected to sell either player.
Palace will instead allow Guehi to leave for pastures new, giving the Eagles a boost of cash to spend themselves.
