Tottenham Hotspur travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in what promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the Premier League weekend.

The two sides are level on points, with Tottenham one spot above the Red Devils in tenth place due to their superior goal difference.

Both Ange Postecoglou and Erik ten Hag are under pressure to secure three points, making this an exciting contest to look forward to.

While Paul Merson acknowledged that this is a ‘huge game’ for both teams, he thinks they will share the spoils in an entertaining draw.

The Arsenal icon feels an open game of football is on the cards at Old Trafford as he expressed concerns over Manchester United’s recent run of form.

“Tottenham play a dangerous high line and Manchester United are not great at the back, so it’s a very open football match,” wrote Merson in his column for Sportskeeda.

“I expect there will be loads of goals in this one too.”

“It’s hard to point out what’s exactly going wrong at Manchester United at the moment. But I can tell you, something’s definitely not right. They have to get back into the top four, that should be like bread and butter for a club of this stature.”

As for Spurs, Merson suggested that their position in the league table doesn’t reflect the kind of football they’ve played this season, predicting a 2-2 draw between the two sides.

He continued: “Spurs have been alright this season. Against Arsenal, the quality of set-pieces were the only difference between them.

“But they should’ve beaten both Newcastle and Leicester. If they don’t win these type of games, it starts to look a bit Spursy! As things stand, there’s not a lot of problems with them.

“But if they lose this game, they are the team with the fourth-best chance of finishing fourth.”

While Merson expects a draw, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher feel Manchester United will beat Tottenham on Sunday.

How have Manchester United and Tottenham fared this season?

With one win, two draws and two defeats apiece, both Manchester United and Tottenham have identical records this season.

Tottenham have largely played good football but haven’t been clinical enough in front of goal, which has been their main issue this season.

Manchester United, on the other hand, simply haven’t clicked despite splashing the cash on five new recruits in the summer transfer window.

They still don’t have a discernible brand of football under Ten Hag in what is his third season in charge at Old Trafford and the Dutchman’s position at the club could come under scrutiny if results don’t improve quickly.
