'Look at the overall squad': Gary Lineker predicts who will finish higher - Tottenham or Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both having terrible seasons in the Premier League.
There have been several surprise stories in the league this season. Nottingham Forest are flying and are currently third, while Manchester City have fallen off and are 12 points behind the top of the table.
The biggest surprise, however, is that Tottenham and Manchester United are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Not many people would’ve expected to see that at this stage of the season.
Gary Lineker has now had his say on the two clubs.

Both Tottenham and Manchester United have lost more games than they have won this season.
Ruben Amorim’s side are currently 13th in the table after winning seven and losing 10 of their first 22 games in the Premier League.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are 15th in the table. They have won seven games too but have lost 12 so far, which is a shocking record.

There are still 16 games left in the Premier League this season, so both Spurs and United have plenty of time to turn things around.
Lineker thinks one team has a better chance than the other of salvaging this season.
When asked on the Rest is Football podcast which of the two teams are closer to turning things around and will finish higher than the other, Lineker said: “I think if you had everyone fit, then Tottenham are in a better place than possibly Manchester United.
“If I look at the overall squad, I think they’ve probably got a little bit more than United. United need to do more in the transfer market. But obviously, both of them are in a bit of a rut at present."

Tottenham may have to follow in Manchester United’s footsteps soon
Manchester United had a terrible start to the season.
After just three wins in their first nine Premier League games, Erik ten Hag was sacked and that opened the door for Amorim to come in.
If things don’t change at Tottenham in the coming weeks, Daniel Levy could do what United did and sack their manager – despite the fact that injuries have seriously hurt Postecoglou’s chances of success.
Amorim was previously linked with the Tottenham job when Antonio Conte left the club, but there’s no way Spurs will get him now.
It will be interesting to see who they will go after if Postecoglou is shown the door.
