Leeds United are not expected to push to try and sign Louie Barry as the club are focusing on other options, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition ofFootball Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke revealed that the Yorkshire giants want to sign an "out-and-out striker" in the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old can play in that position, but his best position is seen as out wide rather than upfront.
The Championship side are well-stocked when it comes to wingers, which is why the Aston Villa star isn't a prime target for the club.
It is believed that Leeds have got enough to go up this year regardless of potential signings, with the club currently sitting second in the Championship after the opening 20 games.
Louie Barry isn't Leeds United's top target going into January
Barry is currently on loan at League One side Stockport County where he has become a regular for the team.
The England Under-18 international has scored 15 goals and provided one assist in 20 appearances across all competitions this season which has caught the attention of other clubs.
Barry has proven his versatility during the loan period by playing out wide, upfront, and in an attacking midfield role.
Leeds have scored more goals than any other team in the Championship, but Farke wants more options upfront.
Joel Piroe is currently the leading scorer at Elland Road this season with seven, while Brenden Aaronson has scored five.
