Loic Bade is currently a leading figure at Spanish giants Sevilla but it’s easy to forget that not long ago he had a stint at Nottingham Forest.

He joined the club on loan from Rennes in the 2022/23 season but the stint was cut-short in January 2023, when he joined Sevilla on loan before signing for the Andalusians permanently in the summer of 2023.

The Frenchman has now spoken about his exit from Nottingham Forest and how the move to Sevilla came about.

In a chat with Mediaset El Desmarque, as relayed by Estadio Deportivo, the defender revealed that he took a big pay-cut to join the La Liga side.

“When I signed here, I lowered my contract a lot, because I came from Nottingham, where I didn’t play. I lowered my contract a lot to come [here]."

Bade also stated that a key conversation took place with Sevilla sporting director Victor Orta, who convinced him to stay after an initial loan spell.

“Yes, of course, I told Victor that I feel very good here. I have changed clubs many times during my short career, and I wanted to continue like this because it is a place where I feel very good."

The centre-back hadn’t played even once during his time at Nottingham Forest despite establishing himself previously in France.

He perhaps deserved more during his time in the Premier League, and at Sevilla has played 66 times since his arrival, which is a key reason he’s enjoying life in Spain.
