Tottenham Hotspur will hope to take a step closer to the Carabao Cup final when they take on Manchester United in their quarter-final on Thursday night.

The tie of the round sees Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs take on Ruben Amorim’s Red Devils at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a 8pm GMT kick-off.

Tottenham have shown they can hammer anyone on their day, having dealt Manchester United a 3-0 defeat at Old Trafford back in September.

However, this depends on which Spurs turn up, and with a new manager in charge at Old Trafford, there’s no guarantee of a similar outcome this time round.

TBR Football looks at who Postecoglou could name in his starting XI for the Carabao Cup clash against Man United.

Tottenham team news v Manchester United

Postecoglou will be without Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison through injury.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur is unavailable through suspension, while Destiny Udogie faces a late fitness test after a quad issue against Southampton.

Yves Bissouma is available once again after serving a one-match suspension against the Saints.

Postecoglou confirmed that Moore is back in training while Davies will return from injury next week and Richarlison's return is scheduled at the start of the new year.

It’ll be a case of as you were for most of the Tottenham back line, with Pedro Porro, Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray starting in front of Fraser Forster.

With Udogie a doubt, Postecoglou could select Djed Spence to cover at left-back for what would be only his second competitive start for Spurs.

Postecoglou also said Lucas Bergvall was tired from the Southampton game, suggesting the returning Bissouma could come back into the XI.

The midfield three could be completed by Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski, which would see £40million man James Maddison drop out of the starting line-up.

As for the front line, Brennan Johnson could return on the right as Kulusevski drops back to midfield, with Son Heung-min and Dominic Solanke also involved from the off.
