Gabriel Magalhaes sent a message via social media after the Arsenal defender starred in dramatic events during the international break.

A dramatic winner from Vinicius Junior in the ninth minute of added time stole the show for Brazil over Colombia as the two sides looked to be heading for a draw after goals from Raphina and Luis Diaz on Friday 21 March.

The 27-year-old has paired up with William Saliba in the centre of defence, creating a formidable partnership over the last three seasons and pushing Mikel Arteta‘s team forward.

Although the Gunners’ goals from set-pieces have dried up lately, the centre-back has remained a force to be reckoned with, so much so that Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr are keen on signing Gabriel.

That could very much tear Arteta’s squad apart during the summer transfer window, especially if a replacement was not found ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but fans are not worried about him leaving.

Gabriel Magalhaes remains an important piece of Arsenal jigsaw

Taking to Instagram [21 March], Gabriel wrote: “LET’S GO BRAZIL!! Important win, we continue together!! Thank you, Brasília for all your support during the 90 minutes!”

As well as receiving likes from teammates Thomas Partey, Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, the defender also received likes from West Ham star Lucas Paqueta and Crystal Palace’s Eddie Nketiah.

Mikel Arteta yet to welcome back Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz

Football Insider verdict

Injuries to Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Saka have been incredible blows for Arsenal this season, likely having some sort of impact on the Premier League title race against Arne Slot’s Liverpool.

Even with those three attackers fit, the Gunners were unlikely to have won their first league title since 2004, but the 12-point gap at the top seems rather unfair based on performances this season.

Arsenal are nowhere near within touching distance of Liverpool.

Andrea Berta is set to step into a transfer role at Arsenal, and given his exciting background with Atletico Madrid, there could be some exciting transfers on the way this summer.

The Gunners’ performances in the Champions League this term should certainly help bring a higher calibre of player to the Emirates Stadium in the next transfer window, even if just to work with Arteta.

Once a complete squad has been put together, Arsenal will be true title contenders and be able to finally retake what was theirs over 20 years ago.
