Man City fans are frustrated that the club haven't learned a lesson from how Cole Palmer was handled following a new report about James McAtee's future.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Bayer Leverkusen have approached the Premier League giants to sign McAtee in the January transfer window.

The Bundesliga side have offered to take the 22-year-old on loan until the end of the season with an option to sign him afterward as Xabi Alonso is a huge fan.

Football Insider exclusively revealed that Pep Guardiola is not going to stand in McAtee's way if he wants to make the move to Germany.

The situation has earned comparisons to Palmer's time at City where he showed promise but was ultimately allowed to join Chelsea, where he has since taken the footballing world by storm.

McAtee has scored five goals in 14 appearances across all competitions this season, but his game time has been limited as he's only played 507 minutes.

Man City fans don't want to let James McAtee go

City supporters regret the club's decision to sell Palmer due to the consistent goals and assists he has churned out for Chelsea, and there are fears that McAtee will go on to do the same thing if he leaves.

The England Under-21 international has just 18 months left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and Guardiola has a reputation of happily allowing players to leave if they don't want to be at the club.

Club captain Kyle Walker departed City this month to join AC Milan, but fans are urging Guardiola not to green light a move for McAtee.
