Man United fans are calling on the club to secure the signing of Tyler Dibling after a key update in their pursuit of the talented youngster.

The 19-year-old has been a rare bright spark in a dismal season for Southampton, with the club sitting rock bottom of the league on just nine points.

Despite their struggles, the teenager has caught the attention of several Premier League clubs. Mick Brown, former chief scout at Man United, exclusively told Football Insider that Dibling is almost certain to leave Southampton as relegation looms.

The Red Devils join Crystal Palace and Tottenham, who have all expressed interest in Dibling, with a bidding war expected in the summer.

However, a recent development has given United fans hope, as they believe the club now has the upper hand in securing the highly-rated winger.

Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail has revealed that Man United are among 14 Premier League clubs that have "inquired" about Dibling, with interest also coming from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

However, United may have an advantage in the race for the 19-year-old, as their technical director, Jason Wilcox, previously worked as director of football at Southampton before joining the Red Devils last year.

Wheeler also reported that "United scouts have watched Dibling on a number of occasions" with the youngster catching the eye when he faced Diogo Dalot earlier this season.

Man United fans were already impressed by Dibling’s performance in that game, and with Wilcox playing a potential key role in negotiations, many now believe he could be on his way to Old Trafford.

Football Insider revealed Man United's interest in Dibling back in December, but they are clearly not alone in the chase for his signature.

Tottenham were considering a move for Dibling in the January transfer window, but it seemed as if Southampton were unwilling to negotiate mid-season.

He has been a crucial player for the Saints, making 30 appearances this season and contributing six goals. However, with Southampton staring at relegation, he may have to start considering his future.

United fans are convinced the club has the edge, with Wilcox's connections potentially playing a decisive role. One supporter said, "Wilcox, you know what needs to be done" while another added "Wilcox should use his contacts at Southampton ASAP."
