Three days ago, Corriere della Sera reported Lazio are holding talks with Manchester City over a loan move for Claudio Echeverri in the summer window. The 19-year-old was at a restaurant near the Serie A side’s training centre.

On Thursday, Corriere dello Sport dismissed Lazio having any negotiations to sign him and that it was a coincidence that Echeverri was in Rome.

TyC Sports state the Manchester City player will go out on loan to Girona next season.

The Premier League club completed his signing from River Plate in January 2024 and sent him back on loan until the end of last year. He represented Argentina at the 2025 South American U20 championship and returned to the Etihad last month.

Echeverri hasn’t made an appearance yet for Manchester City first team or their youth teams so far.

To let him continue his development, the Citizens will send him on loan to Girona. In fact, the report states the attacking midfielder is ‘one step away’ from securing an agreement for a loan move to the La Liga club.

TyC Sports state Echeverri will move to Girona in the next window, meaning Pep Guardiola ‘will not use him’ for the rest of the season.
