Ruben Amorim got his first taste of a packed Old Trafford crowd as Manchester United secured a 3-2 win against Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League.

A brace from Rasmus Hojlund and a first-minute goal from Alejandro Garnacho did the job for the Red Devils, but it wasn’t plain sailing as they had to come from behind despite their early goal.

Amorim’s philosophy is already beginning to bear fruit as a handful of players showed their class in an entertaining game of football.

However, it was Noussair Mazraoui who earned rave reviews for his performance from the Manchester United faithful.

Starting on the right side of a back three alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez, Mazraoui produced arguably his best performance in a Manchester United shirt.

He kept things tidy at the back and was also heavily involved in Hojlund’s first goal as he danced his way past multiple players to deliver a cross into the box.

The Moroccan has been a hit since swapping the Allianz Arena for Old Trafford in the summer and has quickly become a fan favourite at the club.

Several Manchester United fans feel Mazraoui has been the signing of the season so far, with some even going as far as saying that he’s been one of the best value-for-money arrivals in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

@utdHarryy said: “Mazraoui is a top 5 signing post-Fergie when you factor in price,” while @UtdEIIis wrote: “Mazraoui the only good value for money signing ten Hag made.”

@AmorimEra_ wrote: “Mazraoui is the best footballer I've seen at this club for a long, long time,” while the same user on X added after the game: “We'd be the best team on the planet if we have had 11 Mazraoui's.”

What did Ruben Amorim say about Mazraoui’s performance?

After his first game and victory at Old Trafford, Amorim lauded the Moroccan for his performance at the heart of the backline.

"He's an incredible player, he's our future,” said the Manchester United boss in his post-match press conference.

“He played in different positions, he looks always fresh but we have to be careful. There's a lot of games but he's here to stay. This kind of player is what we need."

Don Hutchison praised Mazraoui earlier this season for his performance against Leicester City as the defender played a key role for Erik ten Hag.

And judging by his recent performances, not much has changed for him under the new manager as he continues to go from strength to strength.
