Manchester United’s season continues to go from bad to worse after losing 2-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day.
Ruben Amorim oversaw an initial upturn in form at Old Trafford after replacing Erik ten Hag but the Red Devils are now struggling once again.
Manchester United have now lost five times in their last seven games in all competitions against a Wolverhampton Wanderers side on the up under Vitor Pereira.
Matheus Cunha was a constant thorn in the Red Devils’ side and he opened the scoring for Wolves in the 58th minute.
The Brazil international scored straight from a corner, the second time in three games that Andre Onana was beaten in this way.
Man United were then caught out deep into stoppage time as they committed men forward in pursuit of an equaliser.
Wolves broke and Cunha squared for Hwang Hee-chan to ensure Wolves would secure all three points for the second game in a row.
Man United fans, who were impressed by Manuel Ugarte, were also keen to have their say on Cunha in wake of his heroics against their side.

Manchester United urged by fans to sign Wolves star Matheus Cunha
Plenty of Man United supporters on X were in awe of Cunha and urged their club to make a move for the 25-year-old forward.
“If this was against Fergie's team, he'll be on the phone to David Gill to sign Cunha,” said one fan. “Let’s see what INEOS/Glazers do.”
Another supporter wrote: “Man Utd should sign Matheus Cunha.
“He’s quality going forward and works hard off the ball. He’s also accustomed to playing in Amorim system.”
The calls to sign Cunha kept coming, with one fan saying: “Matheus Cunha came here with a clear mission on his mind. Sign him next window please MUFC.”
Another wrote: “Cunha giving us an interview why we should sign him! Man Utd hope you are watching.”
And another added: “What have we learned tonight? Sign Cunha. That is all.”
One supporter even said “Cunha would be our best player” were Man United to sign him.
How likely Man United could be to sign Cunha
Cunha was said to be a target for Man United and Arsenal last summer, but his price tag – previously reported as £63million – is likely to be revised for next year.
At 25 years of age, Cunha is still not in his prime just yet, and he’s certainly proving his worth at the highest level.
However, Cunha’s contract expires in 2027, so by the time the summer comes round, he’ll have just two years left on his contract.
Unless Wolves manage to tie him down to a new deal, they could potentially be tempted to cash in while his stock is at the highest level.
At the same time, if Man United fail to secure European football this season, they may struggle to convince Cunha to join ahead of the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
