Fulham manager Marco Silva will be furious with keeper Bernd Leno for his mistake against West Ham, according to Robbie Savage.

The Whites lost 3-2 to their London rivals after two massive defensive mistakes from Silva’s side.

The Hammer’s first goal of the game came from midfielder Andreas Pereira, who blindly played a pass across his own box, and Carlos Soler slotted home.

After conceding a second only minutes later from Tomas Soucek, Fulham pulled themselves back into the game as Alex Iwobi’s cross drifted straight into the back of the net.

However, Iwobi’s good work was un-done by a horrible decision from Leno, who waited too long to play a pass to Calvin Bassey. Danny Ings stole the ball of the toes of the German ‘keeper and the ball fell to Lucas Paqueta who slotted home.

Savage reacted on TNT Sports to the third goal by saying (8.37pm): “Dreadful goalkeeping, Marco Silva will be absolutely raging, they’ve given west ham two goals. Leno is shaking his head.

“I don’t know what the goalkeeper is waiting for, puts it on his left foot, and it’s great from Danny Ings, they (Fulham) have given them (West Ham) two goals today.”

Fulham once again drop points despite on-pitch dominance

Football Insider Verdict

The story this season has been a familiar one for Fulham fans, strong performances and good tactical decisions undone by silly moments.

Fulham had 21 shots to West Ham’s four, 56% possession, 1.7xg for Fulham and 1.12 for West Ham. End result? Fulham get no points and West Ham get three. [Fotmob]

Aside from the comical errors from Leno and Pereira, the Cottagers continue to be supremely wasteful in front of goal, despite having eight Premier League goals (with three penalty goals), Raul Jimenez continues to be profligate in front of goal.

Antonee Robinson has been a stand-out player this season for Fulham

Tonight was another reason as to why Silva will be desperate for the club to finally buy him a new striker, having failed to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic since his move to Saudi Arabia.

There have been links to Ben Doak and James McAtee, and whilst both players would be good additions to the squad, the team is crying out for a striker who can make the most of the creativity of Emile Smith-Rowe, Antonee Robinson and Iwobi.

In other news, Keith Hackett has exclusively told Football Insider that he was “baffled” by VAR in the Whites’ game against West Ham.
